Character Research BLOG: Nanno (Girl from Nowhere)


"A world without any resistance. A world where everyone is the judge. In a world after this, is Nanno still needed?"


Appearing as an ordinary high school girl, Nanno transfers from school to school with no clear past, no family, and no true identity. Yet wherever she goes, chaos follows. Beneath her calm smile and curious demeanor lies a mysterious, almost supernatural force that exists to expose the darkest sides of human nature.
Rather than directly punishing people, Nanno acts as a catalyst. She places individuals in situations where their own desires, insecurities, and moral weaknesses are brought to the surface. What makes her so compelling is that she doesn’t force wrongdoin,she simply gives people the opportunity to reveal who they truly are. In this way, she functions less like a villain and more like a judge, jury, and executioner wrapped into one enigmatic figure.
Her personality is playful, observant, and often eerily detached. She watches events unfold with amusement, rarely interfering unless necessary, as if she already knows how everything will end. This calm control, paired with her cryptic motives, makes her both fascinating and terrifying. Is she a bringer of justice, a punisher of sin, or something far more ambiguous?
Ultimately, Nanno represents the consequences of human choice. She doesn’t create evil, she reveals it. And once she appears, there’s no escaping the truth.


---Before We Begin---
Hey there Nonexisting- here! So incase you don't know, I previously made a blog for one of Nanno's matchups called "Nanno VS Sans (Girl from Nowhere VS Undertale)" and in that blog I've written down everything there is to know about Nanno's feats. 
I will basically be expanding upon that original blog and include some new feats from her I've missed by including some official GFN interviews and with the new inclusion of the reboot (The Reset) and remake (Japanese Nanno) as these are new additions to the franchise as of early 2026. Also feel free to check the original blog if you're interested, it's my first ever blog and I've put a ton of effort on it! :)
Anyways, time to discuss about the one and only...

Nanno, the embodiment of KARMA


---Background---



Being known as "the literal embodiment of KARMA", Nanno strives for one goal and one goal only, punish wrongdoer, sinners, and those who can be labeled as "bad people". But what sorth of karma does Nanno do exactly? Well she doesn't physically torture her victims nor is she willing to harm them herself but instead prefers a different method, a method that involves testing their patience, giving them that small glimmer of hope, and later down the line immediately crushing that hope and drive them down to insanity. Nanno doesn't break them down physically, she breaks them down mentally to the point it becomes actual torture and will make them ultimately regret their actions. Nanno has faced off against multiple people of this kind, whether they will be her classmates or teachers, Nanno only chooses those who's actions will lead them to a sealed faith, these faiths such as her targeting a teacher who secretly and willingly partakes in inappropriate behaviors amongst his students was punished by not only having his deeds exposed to authority but also indirectly have his daughter killed as a result of his poor parenting. Nanno's classmates after sexually harassing her and unintentionally knocking her out in the process attempts to hide the evidence by burying her alive and walking off thinking they're free only to later get haunted by Nanno who has somehow returned unharmed. A student willing to do whatever it takes to keep an online reputation uphold even it cost his partner being harmed in the process was punished by Nanno influence, following him everywhere to the point they've unintentionally created a cult like following who not only worships his title but also becomes trapped by the same people who idolized him. And lastly, a student feild with jealousy and hate starts feeling superior amongst others when she realizes she weilds the ability to write down whatever she desires will promptly come true uses this to her advantage by harming those around, however, she was punished when Nanno gave her a little push to share her abilities amongst other students, which resulted in these hateful desires spreading even more through out the entire school and ultimately leading to chaos. 
Her sense of justice is cold, ruthless, and full of despair. All her roles are just an act, her smile often lingers as she watches events unfold, she barely shows any genuine care or empathy to those she chooses to torment. And yet, despite the lack of compassion, her worldview began to change the moment she met a lonely boy who was just as lonely as she was named TK.
Unlike all of Nanno’s encounters, TK was not a malicious person by the slightest, he simply drives connection from others and does so by being a rebellious thief to get his fathers attention and to impress Nanno in the process. Nanno would initially do her usual routine and push TK through the use of her manipulation, however, she starts developing genuine feelings that are actually real and not out of pure malice, which was a rare sight for Nanno. These feelings Nanno had changed her worldview about how she orignally viewed humans, from once believing they are heartless creatures who only deserves to be punished for their sins sees another side that even those who performs in heinous actions don't ultimately have corrupted motives behind it, with this discovery, Nanno takes the ultimate jump in doing something she has never done before...saving someone. She makes the ultimate sacrifice and betrays TK, not only did this help him get in touch with his father again but also saved him from the walking embodiment of karma, in order to prevent risking his harm in future events. Nanno's actions shows that despite having the role of a judge, she is not devoid to compassion and only chooses to harm those deserving of it. 
After Nanno's encounter with TK, she continues back with how she orignally intends to go, by punish her victims, becoming more violent and building up a complete blood fest with how she partakes in causing plague amongst her targets. Being trapped in a room amongst students who started antagonizing one another after being trapped for so long was punished by indirectly pushing them further till driven each other mad to the point one was willing to commit murder and kill one another. A strict teachers who unfairly treats her students rudely was punished by the past of her lost child being in constant reminder to her slowly drives her mad, ultimately leading her to a completely broken state that led to a mass school shooting and driven by suicide. Lastly, Nanno’s classmates who after bullying her and constantly harassment was punished by infiltrating their get together party 10 years later, exposing all the awful misdeeds they've done to each other, causing everyone to antagonize one another till they were willing to commit a murder spree in order to just save themselves. However, Nanno eventually did brought them back to life but now with the knowledge of each others mistakes leading to a permanent instability from one another. Despite everything that has happened, Nanno's goals still remain clean, her punishments always goes according to plan and always finds enjoyment in what she does. However, Nanno's system was eventually and ultimately put down after someone has manage to disrupt her ways, preventing her from properly functioning and delivering the final blows to her targets that she has worked on and planned perfectly. 
This root of this unsteadiness lies in the introduction of Yuri, a character who once remained in the background as an observer to Nanno's schemes eventually made her grand appearance as a fellow worshipper, or someone with similar capabilities to Nanno. Yuri serves as both the counterpart and direct challenge to Nanno's philosophical ways of hysteria, she finds her methods boring and willingly tampers with Nanno's schemes in order for things to go her way. Once a victim herself and originated as one of Nanno's targets, she was unintentionally brought to life after circumstances that led her to inhale Nanno's blood and eventually getting her powers, becoming a similar being who was essentially reborn as an immortal entity that follows Nanno's path, except she adopts a far more vengeful and impulsive approach of justice. Where Nanno is patient and calculated, Yuri is emotional and ruthless, often escalating situations beyond what Nanno intends.
Thus began Nanno's downfall as she starts to lose control over ways and watches it slowly fade as Yuri now takes over her role of karma. She would ofcourse still try to torment her victims but now has Yuri mixed into the charade. A school that hides corrupted motives and teachers who abuses their students was punished by not only having their crimes exposed to the public but also turning all students against their teachers and headmaster. A student who after drunk driving led to the death of four other students was surprisingly being kept from jail thanks to her parents hiding the crimes committed was punished by having the spirits of those she killed haunt her and continued a streak of lies that are so evident that it becomes impossible to hide, ultimately strangled by her parents and driven to suicide thank to the assistance of Yuri. and lastly, Nanno helping her classmate get away from her parents exploitation by covering up a new identity was further exploited by Yuri pushing her to kill Nanno and ultimately leading up to an unfair punishment that made her parents not only fully antagonize her but also being completelty unrecognizable thanks to Nanno stealing her entire identity, this however, because of how unfairly she was punished, even Nanno’s own victim made her question her own morality, leading her to expose a critical flaw that maybe her ways are in fact unfair and completelty unjust.
Because of Yuri’s influence, she accelerates in pushing event, and controlling her victims further than what Nanno normally does. This results in Nanno being put in a spot where she canno longer carefully observe and guide events as they go on, instead forced to react, and improvise in moments that have been interrupted. This shift not only ruins the fun out of what she does but undermines her authority and causes her own powers to weaken. 
As Nanno's journey goes on, Yuri continues to interfere through undermining her methods and distorting outcomes, but Nanno still proceeds as she continues for one last attempt in doing things her way. She faces off against a teacher who secretly injects a type of drug on her daughter Junko, not only prevents her ability walk but also exploits her disability in order gain donations from supportive audiences, Nanno attempts to punish her by exposing her misdeeds to the world only to immediately get interrupted by Yuri, who which she learns that the reason why the teacher drugs her daughter in the first place was because she's revealed to be an insane psychopath who caused the missing students reports after killing them off for their organs. This ultimately led a confrontation between Junko and her daughter, in which they fought and attempt to kill one another, meanwhile, Yuri remained observant and asked Nanno a question she knows she couldn't find the answer for "Who is truly in the wrong?". Because of Nanno's unease and uncertainty, she was forced into an unfamiliar territory, wherein because she is no longer the sole arbiter of fate, she acts unpredictably and intervenes in her victims brawl which even Yuri was surprised to see. This interference led to Nanno and the teacher being killed in the process, entertaining Yuri further as she laughs to the events unfold. Yuri ultimately confronts Nanno one last time and introduces Junko as her new found ally into becoming an arbitrary that now possesses a similar role to her as the bringer of justice, while Nanno remained head to toe on the ground, as flowers and leaves scattered her cold body.
As Nanno's story reaches its climax, she delivers one final message "In a world where everyone thinks they're free and does whatever the hell they want... am I still necessary?. For the longest time, she was the one who always stepped in and expose people's secrets, pushing them to see how far they’d go. But now, she sees a world where people like Yuri and Junko are everywhere. People who are naturally cruel and don't even need someone to push them to do terrible things, humans have become so dark and evil that her job becomes pointless, and that she began to question her own importance. Nanno used to be cold, ruthless, and a cruel judge who never doubted herself, but as her story progress, she started feeling human emotions like empathy or guilt. That change made her vulnerable and even affected her perspective towards justice/karma. Just by sitting at the rooftop, watching Yuri and Junko go partways, Nanno now believes handing the world over to the humans, to see how they handle things without her guidance.
It's like she's tired of the repeated cycle of judgment, and that she has lost all hope to her role on exposing conflict of humanity.
Sadly with the cancelation of the orignal Girl from Nowhere Series, Nanno's story will remain unfinished, and despite the chances that we may never see the true climax, Nanno's eyes remained open to a new perspective of the world, but of course she will still remain the true and only embodiment of karma and bringer to justice.

---Powers and Abilities---

WARNING: the contents below will contain BLOOD AND MILD GORE, you have been warned!


Demon Physiology
According to Kitty Chicha, Nanno is the snake from Eden of Garden and is stated to portray to some sort of demigod or in this case a demon as stated that she doesn't require to eat, drink, sleep, or even breathe in order to keep on living, she's also shown throughout the series to simply be an immortal being incapable of aging or dying from any normal means and weilds powerful reality warping abilities.
While Nanno being a demon was never explicitly stated through out the series, there's however been a lot of evidence from outside contents such as interviews and promotional materials that refers to Nanno not only being a demon from Hell but also the daughter of Satan. With some notable examples such as the GFN teaser trailer showing the text "SIN" & "SATAN" which are both often associated with hell or demons. Nanno's interview with Kitty, wherein she was asked about the existence of her father (2:47) and implied she's been to hell herself. And Kitty straight up confirming Nanno is the daughter of Satan in her Instagram story and Twitter account.
She also has herself a true form, which can be seen at the intro for season one.


Karma Physiology
Being the very literal embodiment and manifestation of universal karma, Nanno would make it her goal to seek justice and punish future sinners by manipulating events and influencing minds in order to get the outcome her victims will ultimately deserve, this shows that even if Nanno has achieved her goal, her karma will still ultimately prevail and continue to haunt her victims even if she's no longer present or long gone. 
Fun fact: Nanno also lacks a traditional human soul, or any soul to begin with given that the concept for her character was inspired by Buddhist and Hindu beliefs about karma's neutrality and portrayals of devils as sentient beings.


Float / Levitation
Upon making her grand entrance, Nanno is shown to be slowly floating down to where she is needed.


Clairvoyance
Nanno is aware of anything and everything wether she is within the surrounding area or not. She can forsee events even if she's distances apart, unconscious, or through the use of her clones, this allows for her to always be one step ahead and always have backup when needed.


Photographic Memory
"I've read all 427 rules. There isn't one saying one shall not burn the rule book."

Nanno has really good memory, and was able to memorize everything from a book after reading it once.


Various types of Immortality
"No, it's just that it has been ten years, but you're still beautiful as ever."
  • Type 1: Longevity - Nanno is shown to not age, as stated by her classmate that she still looks the exact same after 10 years. Nanno is also confirmed to be the daughter of Satan so it's likely she's thousands years old.
  • Type 4: Reincarnation or Resurrection Immortality - Nanno has multiple clones of herself, everytime she gets killed, another version of her will simply reappear back.
  • Type 5: Undead - After being killed, Nanno can turn herself into a spiritual entity, and continue "living" by haunting her perpetrator.


Self-Sustenance
According to Kitty Chicha in an interview, Nanno doesn't need to eat, drink, sleep, or even breathe in order to continue living as she is simply not human. That doesn't stop her from drinking her Nam Daeng soda though which she weirdly consistently drinks a lot.


Enhanced Senses / Extrasensory Perception
It's often difficult to keep secrets from Nanno even if she's not physically present or nearby, she will always be able to not only sense when someone is looking or talking about her, but can also read a person's expressions whether they would be lying or disingenuous.


Various types of Teleportation
"There's an extra item?"
  • Type 3: Swap Teleportation - Nanno can swap locations with anything from her place in an instant even if she's being held captive and other people are watching.

Cloning
Nanno can create multiple clones of herself, these clones can work together as teams and take over each other's place when killed. The clones also share memories of all past events and are always aware when something happens to the other. They are also cannibals, it is said that the amount of clones that already exists are so high that even if the clones starts eating each other, they would last for a year.


Reality Warping 
Nanno can alter the world at will and cause mass hysteria, wether this will be to a small degree such as when she tricked her classmates into massacring one another and later warping reality back like nothing happened. And to a bigger degree, wherein she altered reality and created an empty world to torment her victim. 


Fourth Wall Awareness
Nanno is aware she has an audience watching her and knows she's in a show. She's also aware to be a character played by an actor and even had an official interview with.


DIMENSION TRAVEL
Not only can Nanno travel through different parts of the world, she can also travel through different universes entirely, as shown when she entered a black and white dimension and immediately lost her colors upon entering. She also entered a universe where her actor lives and is stated she could take Chicha to hell to meet her father (2:49). Nanno's actor has also further confirmed her ability to travel through different dimensions by stating that episode 6 is where "you can see more dimensions." (5:41) An obvious implication of the episode taking place in a different world.


TELEPATHY
Nanno can whisper and talk through other people's minds, wether they will be distances apart or even through hallucinations.


Hallucination / Illusion Creation
Speaking of hallucinations, Nanno can create illusions and make her victim see things that are never there to begin with, such as appearing in mirrors and through television.


Perception Manipulation
Nanno can alter her victims perception such as appearing through other students, and even mimicking someone's appearance.


Wish Granting
There are two instances of Nanno granting wishes, firstly her creation of a company called "Nanno Company Unlimited", which allows for anyone to get what they wish for no matter how ambitious it may be such as wishing for a motorcycle, revenge on a cheater, getting a girlfriend, and even faking to own a mansion (wherein resulted in her victims parents becoming temporary servants.) But this however will cost a hefty price depending on the request. Second instance is her creation of the "Wonderwall" which allows for anyone to write down corrupt desires such as wishing harm or straight up death upon anyone.


Creation / Power Object Crafting
Believe it or not Nanno is capable of recreating the Death Note herself as stated by her actor Kitty during a QnA section of her interview (19:24) wherein she was asked "Supposing Nanno were to play a role in Death Note, would she be for or against Kira?" And immediately responded with "She would be the one creating Death Note in the first place." Given that her statement could easily be inaccurate or played for jokes, she did however create the wonderwall and later down the list a magical ballpen which are both capable of granting wishes so her statement wouldn't be too far off and remain pretty accurate given Nanno's character.


Resurrection
Nanno can resurrect the dead through various means such as warping reality and bringing her classmates back to life, or allowing for anyone to intake her blood which results in their revival.


Non-Physical Interaction
During Nanno's take on ghost stories, she was asked what she would do when faced against a ghost and answered by suggesting she'd "trick the ghost and cut off ghosts leg", this suggest that Nanno is capable of harming non physical/spiritual entities.


Battle Field Removal
Nanno can trap her victims in the "Room of Repentance", an empty dark wide room that only contains a chair and loads of flashing lights. This was originally used by the Pantanawittaya school as a form of detention to punish rebellious students but was later overrun by Nanno and used it to torture Yuri by having her tied to a chair and implied to get eaten by cannibals.


Power Bestowal / Blood Manipulation
By intaking the blood of Nanno, this allows for her powers to be passed onto other people and be given the desire to punish sinners. Her powers can however be passed down even without the need of Nanno's blood directly but even through those she has already bestowed such as Yuri giving a piece of her blood to Junko.


Mind Manipulation
Nanno can control and brainwash the minds of multiple people at once, such as creating a cult like group who worships her (even all the way in Japan), turning a person's mind into a dog, making someone crazy, and even commanding groups of students and teachers to attack and torture her targets.


Dream Manipulation 
Nanno can infiltrate her victims dreams and terrorize them from within.


Spirit Physiology / Soul Manipulation
Nanno can turn herself into a spirit and get in touch with the souls of those her victims have killed and collectively haunt them.


Shape-shifting
According to Kitty Chicha, Nanno is stated to be the snake from the Garden of Eden (0:30). Wether this statement should be taken literally or not, this would imply Nanno possesses the ability to change her appearance similarly to what Satan can do given he was established to be Nanno's father.


Technology Manipulation
Nanno is shown to be able to control multiple technological devices and always has access to anyone's phones and camera's. She is also always able to access and use her cellphone even if she isn't holding it, with examples such as:
Various type of Biological Manipulation
  • Type 1: Fragrance Manipulation - Nanno can alter her odor and cause a strong unpleasant smell.
  • Type 2: Acne Manipulation - Nanno can cause her face to suddenly grow zits and acne.
  • Type 3: Status Effect Inducement - Nanno can indirectly cripple anyone and prevent them from ever being healed.
  • Type 4: Pregnancy Inducement - Nanno can cause impregnation even through the male gender and herself, as shown in one of her promotional material.


Body Manipulation
Nanno can replace parts of her victims body and attach new parts, such as replacing her victim's hand into a toy hammer (trying to remove this by cutting off the veins will also cause shock levels of pain)


Object / Doll Manipulation
Nanno can control her victims wooden doll and make it appear to be starring back at them.



Law Manipulation
Nanno can add limitations to her powers such as her creation of the wonderwall which allows for anyone to write down their desires and it will come true, however, it's purely limited to wishes meant to be fulfilled by hatred or negativity, so positive wishes like hoping for a relationship won't work.


Hair Manipulation
Nanno can change her hair color to a bright purple and make it stand out from the rest.


Weather / Lightning Manipulation
Nanno can alter the weather and create a storm capable of striking lightning.


Sound Manipulation
Nanno is able to manipulate her voice and raise it loud enough for the entire school to hear her despite how far they may be, she can also laugh hysterically to the point it overruns and echo's through the person's mind.


Animal Manipulation 
By drawing an upside down triangle in the air, Nanno can control any animals and command them to attack whoever she targets.


Identity Theft / Identity Manipulation
"Dad, I'm Jane, your daughter."
''Whose daughter? we have only one daughter, and she's sitting right here."

Nanno can alter both herself and her victims entire identity. This allows for her to switch characters with her victim and affect the world's memory into believing their original identity and name is instead someone else's.


Needle Manipulation
Nanno can control long needles to invade her victims skin and grow out of it.


Dollification
Nanno can turn her victims into dolls...yikes


Skill / Trajectory Manipulation
Nanno can enhance or downgrade her victims skill sets.


Empathic Manipulation
Nanno can amplify a person's emotions such as making groups of students fall deeply inlove with a single individual.


Fate Manipulation
With the wonderwall, Nanno can control and determine a person's fate by writing down what will happen to them. 


Death Manipulation
Nanno can indirectly induce death in anyone even through biological causes such as a person dying from artery.


Suicide Inducement
Nanno can prompt anyone into killing themselves, such as having them jump off a building or hang themselves.


Power Nullification / Causality / Life Manipulation
Nanno can perfectly undo the cause and effect of her powers such as erasing what was written that led to a person's death and reviving them back to life like nothing happened. 


Existence Erasure
Nanno can instantly erase humanity from existence and leave her victim completely alone.


Color Erasure
Similarly to existence erasure, Nanno can also completely erase colors from the world, leaving it in a completely black and white state.


Time Manipulation
During Nanno's interview with her actor Kitty, Nanno would completely derail and walk out mid interviewer, later coming back seconds later now covered in blood. It was never elaborated on where Nanno went off to and why she was now covered in blood but knowing her character, it's very likely she went to punish someone that resulted in a rather violent end goal. Since Nanno's punishments often takes days or weeks and sometimes even years to execute, it's possible Nanno might've momentarily froze or slowen time hence why she got back so quickly.
Also it's unlikely long periods of time has passed after the cut to Nanno's return since the interview would've ended by now.


Alternate Timeline Creation
Nanno can create an alternate time line and make her victims physically see and interact with a future that was built by their previous actions. However, despite being able to interact with the people around them, they cannot physically see or hear them.


Time Travel
After seeing the future and with a blink of an eye, Nanno can make her victims travel back in time, allowing for them to redo and change their previous actions, ultimately changing the outcome.


Precognition

Manipulation
Nanno possesses a high level of manipulation, tricking her victims minds through feeding off their fears, insecurities, and emotions, using it as a weapon against their mentality to perform actions they thought they would never do such as committing a crime, mass murder, or prompted to suicide. Nanno is always one step ahead, she's unpredictable, calculative, and pushes the limits even to those who initially started off good hearted. She will play roles and always keep her hands clean as she nudges her victims to the right direction and ultimately face a demise led by their own actions.


Social Influence
Nanno is also a pretty good influencer, she's easily able to grab an audience and even being the very centric and popular "school couple" to the point there are very dedicated fans of hers. Nanno's social influence allows for her to grab huge groups of people and get them to collectively follow her every command wherein it almost becomes a cult.


Master Tactician / Genius-Level Intellect 
Nanno possesses a great level of intelligence, instantly knowing everything about her victims and can pull off grand schemes that are believed to be years of planning. She can create self inflicted plans and test her targets to perform actions they ought they'd never do, all whilst avoiding being at fault.


Information Analysis
Nanno can instantly know informations about her victims and can read a person's thoughts just from their expressions whether it's disengenuine or not, she is always aware when someone lies to her face or is secretly plotting something malicious. 


Stealth Mastery
Nanno is a skilled theif, able to create a perfect plan to steal almost anything without anyone's notice even if she's right infront of them. She even stole a cat!


Hacking
Nanno is an impressive hacker, such as being able to somehow obtain a password that gives her access to the school's security cameras, was able to use a laptop to remotely unlock a door that was locked by a padlock and infultrating a secret online group without the knowledge of the other members.


Combat Skills
Believe it or not Nanno is actually a rather competent fighter able stand her ground against her classmate and even fought multiple students.


Skilled Archery
Nanno is surprisingly a natural with the bow and arrow despite only learning it for the first time


Multilingualism
With a version of Nanno from all across the world, she can likely speak any language without any restrain or difficulty, with some notable examples such as Thai, English, Filipino, and Japanese.


Skilled Dancer
What do you mean this isn't considered a skill? Her moves are totally hypnotizing!


Other Human Skills
Nanno is shown to be capable of keeping up with regular human activities and is surprisingly talented with skills such as a self-portrait artist, skilled at chess, tennis player, body figure artist, and she can also sing!


---Resistance---


  • Biological Resistance - With Nanno's inhuman species, she is likely immune to any form of biological effects as she's incapable of being pregnant even after hooking up with various men through out the series.
  • Sleeping Nullification - Nanno is incapable of being put to sleep through normal means such as sleeping pills or amounts of alcohol.
  • Self-Power Resistance - Nanno is seemingly able to resist all her powers and can simply nullify any effects used onto herself.
  • Empathic / Mental Resistance - After Nanno's classmate wished for everyone in school to fall deeply in love with them, Nanno was the only one unaffected by this. In addition, she is also likely immune to any mind manipulation effects.
  • Death Defiance - Nanno is immune to any concept of death as she can simply shrugg it off and always come back no matter what 
  • Soul Immunity - Nanno lacks a soul, making her immune to any soul based attacks.
  • Battle Field Removal - Nanno can escape being trapped in any means via her teleportaion, dimension travel or body swapping through clones
  • Negation Immunity - Nanno's powers cannot be negated even if she's weakened and killed off completely, as she is seemingly able to revive herself and recover them back immediately.

Nanno’s most useful and most convenient item, often utilizes her phone to better blend in with other students and to execute her self inflicted punishments.


Lighter
Nanno uses this to taunt her victims by burning the school's rule book.


Revolver
Upon discovering a revolver, Nanno immediately persuades her classmates into playing Russian roulette.


Baseball Bat
Despite Nanno having access to a baseball bat, she never actually uses it to attack anyone herself and instead let's other do it for her. Well except for one instance.


Wooden Needle Doll
Nanno can persuade her victims to purchase a creepy wooden doll that contains needles capable of shaping your body to your desired appearance. The figure itself is possibly haunted as it's able to stare at her victims and acts as a voodoo doll that replicates their appearance upon using up all of the needles. While not having direct access to the doll itself, Nanno is rather knowledgable of it's existence and is aware of the needles side effects. 


Suicide Tools
With the objective of faking a suicide, Nanno can provide her victims various tools such as: hacksaw, handsaw, noose/rope, machete, different knife sizes, and a pistol.


Eye Speculum
A torture device Nanno uses to force her victims to keep their eyes open.


Wonderwall
One of Nanno's most dangerous arsenal, this allows users to write down any desires they wish to occure no matter how obscene it may be. However, this limits on wishes fulfilled by hatred or any negative effects rather than positive outcomes, wishes like death upon someone will work but hopes for a relationship won't. This was also later reused in Japan as well!


Ballpen
Similarly to the wonderwall, Nanno deliberately leaves a suspicious ballpen that also weilds the ability to write down what you wish for and it will happen no matter how malicious it may be, however, unlike the wonderwall, this one doesn't have limitations so positive wishes are possible.


Syringe
After tricking her classmates into believing they've been poisoned, Nanno provides them a syringe that is said to contain the cure, she uses this to make her classmates fight for it to the point they were willing to kill each other. But after watching the hysteria unvail, Nanno later reveals that they were never actually poisoned and that the containment of the syringe they took was actually the poison itself, ultimately causing every deaths from her classmates.


Cutter
An item that was originally intended as a defense weapon for a supposed killer running loose, however, Nanno uses this instead to induce fear and intimidate her victims.


Nanno's Company Card
Nanno herself has a company she built for her school. The card is use to promote her business and help students in need.


Handbag
Nanno always brings her bag when transferring to a new school and she's surprisingly protective over it despite mostly being empty and barely having any use to it, moreover, this is likely just used as an accessory to blend with other students.


Cash
Nanno is able to hold large amounts of cash which she uses to buy a room in her school and somehow a giant mansion. It's unknown where she is even able to obtain this amount and honestly that's a mystery on itself.


Umbrella
She just loves the rain.


Hoodie
Believe it or not, a school uniform is not Nanno's only clothing style. Occasionally, Nanno would wear a hoodie (usually a dark colored one) in order to disguise and pull of schemes without being seen in the dark or from public areas.


Microphone & Speaker
Nanno uses this to get the attention of a wider audience and persuade them to follow her lead.

  • Other Nanno's - When faced against people with similar abilities and goals to her such as Yuri & Junko, Nanno is unable to fully focus on her objectives and instead gets distracted or pushed to the sidelines as a result of their interference. Because of this, Nanno is led to create a backup plan and push her limits in order to by pass their capabilites. This however, causes her punishments to become unjust and completely undeserving for her victims, due to her actions being quick and last minute rather than slow and patient.
  • Her Ego & Confidence - Nanno has heavy beliefs on her plans to the point she manages to accurately execute her damages nine times out of ten, but occasionally, because of her ego she'd sometimes fail to predict the outcomes and can even end of surprising herself as a result.


---Cosmology---
 Note: Nanno's cosmology and the realms she has been on should be fairly simple given we will sourcing these from official statements, however there will be a few interpretations and implications given how iffy some of these statements are as they were never further elaborated on.


Garden of Eden
According to Kitty Chicha, Nanno is stated to be the snake from Eden's Garden (0:30), if we were to take this statement literally this would imply that Nanno was the one who tempted the first humans, Adam and Eve, into eating the forbidden fruit. While it's unclear where Nanno’s origins fit within the events of the Bible's narrative, and if she really is the serpent of Eden, this interpretation would place Nanno's existence at the very beginning of human history and predates the creation of the Garden of Eden, possibly even before the creation of Heaven and Earth.


Black Void
Before Nanno's story has began, she's shown to be in some sort empty dark void that is only supported by a bit of light and is potentially endless, this ofcourse is never elaborated as we only see this as the season one intro. There's been however speculations on what this area could be, some suggest that this is where Nanno was born due to how we get to see her true form before hand or maybe this is what Hell itself looks like considering Nanno is confirmed to be a devil. But alas we will never truly know.


The Human Realms
the one place Nanno finds enjoyment in tormenting humans, Earth itself. So at baseline you can assume that all the school Nanno goes to through out her story simply takes place in one universe entirely as some episodes makes reference to previous episodes, however, there's been a lot of moments that shows Nanno is capable of traveling throught different dimensions entirely, such as presumably entering a new universe the moment she erased humanity from her previous victim and even entering a black and white world. Nanno’s enjoyment for the human realm doesn’t just limit to what's shown in the show but also expands to our real world aswell, she's shown to willingly participates in interviews, meeting her actor Kitty face to face, and also appearing in a music video and a commercial.
In addition, Nanno also has her reboot and Japanese remake, which both series is said to take place in completely different universes entirely, however, it's not too far to assume their stories or worlds aren't connected to each other in any way. 



Being a demon herself, it is safe to assume this is Nanno's hometown, also during one of the interviews, Nanno has implied she could take her actor Kitty Chicha to Hell herself (2:49). Despite this being never elaborated on, there's no reason to assume she's simply lying and that she's incapable of doing so.


---Misconceptions---

Note: for this section we will now be discussing the false aspects of Nanno's feats, as there are some parts of her powers that fans believe she's capable of pulling off despite the lack of evidence to support this claim. We will be sourcing this from Nanno's wiki pages like VS Battle, Heroes Wiki and possibly other fan posts i could find.


Plant Manipulation
According to the VS Battle Wiki, "She can control the movement of the leaves", particularly the leaf shown in this very scene. However, this is the only clip to support this theory and I disagree with this evidence as Nanno looked unaware of the leaves presents till it gave her the cut, she may have seemed surprised or unbothered but this couldn't really mean much. The leaf also moved on it's own because of the wind and Nanno wasn't shown to be controlling the wind either to pull this off.


Probability Manipulation
According to the VS Battle Wiki, "She knows she would never get hit by a bullet at Russian roulette". I can definitely agree with the statement that Nanno knew she wasn't gonna get shot but this doesn't mean she controlled the probability of the bullet. This is more of so the case of Nanno’s precognition, being able to predict she won't be shot.


Morality & Madness Manipulation
According to the VS Battle Wiki, "She can make good people do bad things they normally would never do, she made a teacher's madness worse and made her kill the school's principal, all the students and then commit suicide". I can agree that Nanno is fully capable of breaking people down completely to the point they're willing to participate in levels of violence. However, I don't agree that Nanno used any form of superpower to make her victims the way they've become, in fact, it would be super out of character for Nanno to just turn a person evil with just a snap of a finger. Nanno can manipulate a person's morality and push them to madness, but this is purely done through her shear influence, knowledge and weaponizing of her victims fear, not a use of a superpower.


Invisibility
According to Nanno's VS Battle Wiki, "She is constantly shown to appear and disappear of the people sight, while it's unknown if it's just her teleportation, the chances of Nanno also having invisibility is really high because she is aware of what is happening when she appears there". There wasn't any evidence linked to this so it's unclear what the writer could be referring to, however, just base on the statement alone, with Nanno’s constant sudden disappearance from people's sight it is likely just a case of teleportation or stealth mastery, also Nanno being aware of the happenings despite not being present is easily an example of her clairvoyance and precognition.


Conceptual Manipulation
Okay this one may be a shocker as this is one of the powers that's been heavily debated wether or not Nanno is applicable to this feat, It's a bit complicated for me to explain however, someone already discussed this with their overall conclusion which you should definitely check out here, as they make good points and I don't wanna just reword and rehash their statement here, so full credits to them! :)

      • Can suddenly disappear from her victims sight and move dozens of meters in an instant, also scales to Yuri who healed all her wounds the moment lightning strikes 
    • High Ends - Infinite to Possibly Immeasurable 
      • Can instantly travel in time and left mid interview returning seconds later covered in blood suggesting she went off to punish a potential victim which usually would've taken days or weeks of process 

  • Biggest Strengths:
    • Wide range of abilities that can immediately end her victims 
    • Has prior knowledge to anyone she encounters and can easily learn about their weaknesses
    • Cannot be permanently killed even after taking advantage of her weakness 
    • Can instantly regain her powers back even after losing them 
    • Likely has years of experience in tormenting her victims 
    • Master tactician who creates elaborated schemes planned for years keeping her always one step ahead 
    • Nanno's wish granting via the wonderwall allows for an endless range of powers we've yet to see 
    • Likely also has an endless range of resistance we've yet to see even with the effects of the wonderwall  
    • Can time travel and alternate future events 
    • Immune to any concept of death as she can simply shrugg it off no matter what 
    • Her karma will always prevail even after she's long gone 
    • Her clairvoyance allows for immediate backup from her clones 
    • Her precognition allows for her to see and predict future outcomes 
    • Can quickly transfer to a different body or turn to a spiritual entity even after being killed 
    • Is willing to stall and wait multiple years just to complete her karmatic justice

    • Can get weak against others who are similar to her
    • Not very destructive when it comes to her powers 


---Possible Matchups---
Ok before we end things off let's discuss some potential opponents for Nanno, her matchup spreads have been growing more and more however I will only be mentioning some notable ones I quite enjoy, also no i won't be mentioning Sans here given I already a blog for the matchup.


VS Tomie (Junji Ito)
"You poor thing, it's a pity you weren't born with my natural charms."

Yes this matchup is an absolute shytstomp, Nanno is a hydrolic bomb whilst Tomie is a coughing baby in this scenario. However, in defense a lot of Nanno’s matchups still works perfectly despite the huge gaps in stats considering Nanno is the type of character who wouldn't end the fight right away and rather keep a slow and painful yet fun one, so regardless the battle potential would still be fun to see, I can imagine Tomie just summoning a bunch of her clones and hanging balloons to elimate a bunch of Nanno clones, meanwhile other Nanno’s are just standing around taunting Tomie.
The banter and interaction potential for this is also definetly a highlight since they share similar personalities and would definitely discuss their shared experience dealing with a rather problematic teacher. Regardless I still love this matchup for the similar themes, connections, and the overall legacy since Tomie is Nanno's most popular opponent amongst both the DB and GFN fandom considering how often they both get compared, and honestly I completely wouldn't mind seeing this become an actual matchup in the future.
Also fun fact: during Nanno's interview with Kitty, Nanno was asked who would win and a fight between her and Tomie and responded with "fight for what? Waste my time." Laughingly so.


VS Enma Ai (Hell Girl)
"You will never know the joys of Heaven; you will be left to wander through a world made of pain and agony for all of eternity."

One of my original matchups for Nanno and I'll be honest I haven't finished watching Hell Girl as of now, however from much I've seen of the character I really dig this as an alternative opponent for Nanno as they surprisingly share a lot of similar thematics. 
The interaction/story potential would also be really fun to see, I can imagine Nanno learning about the hell girl urban legend and contacts her by manipulating her victim to target her and eventually be led to pull the thread, which would ultimately lead to the confrontation between Nanno and Enma Ai. 
The battle itself would also be entertaining to see, Enma Ai would be surprised to encounter someone like Nanno as she's far from her usual victims, she would try to scare and torment Nanno but would immediately feel intimidated when she realized she's unaffected by anything thrown at her. Nanno is certainly unpredictable and would find Enma Ai to be a laugh to play along, I can just imagine her belittling Enma Ai to the point she's actually driven mad. Oh and also Enma Ai's friends should definitely be added for support in this battle since she often relies on their skills and knowledge when tormenting her victims so it would definitely interesting to see how'd they react when faced against someone like Nanno.
This may not entirely be debatable given i don't think Enma Ai has any way of putting Nanno down completely (then again I've yet to finish her series so who knows) she could take Nanno to the Torii Gate which usually causes her victims to be basically erased from the face of earth and immediately sent to Hell, however, Nanno is a demon from Hell, and who's to say she wouldn't simply reappear back so honestly it's completely ineffective. 
but I really love the banter potential both characters could have and honestly this is such a better alternative to Tomie alone. 
Also since I've yet to finish Hell Girl it's possible there's more to this matchup I'm yet to cover so I'll certainly be updating this matchup and discuss it more soon.
Anyways, I love this matchup just for the story potential alone, however this matchup is interchangeable with our next opponent...


VS Moguro Fukuzou (The Laughing Salesman)
"Everyone, whatever they be men, women, child or elderly, have a hole in their hearts they desire to fill..."

Honestly i was originally confused on who this doreamon looking esc character is but after doing a bit of digging and checking the series out I can definitely see the appeal for the matchup, they are both fairly similar thematically and have similar motives, however the connections are a bit lacking in my opinion but that still doesn't stem this from being an awesome opponent for Nanno.
Moguro is from one of those series where he has no overarching lore or a direct serialized story instead an episodic one so I don't really think needing to watch the entirety of the franchise is necessary. (Also there's like 127 episodes combining both the original and new series which I am definitely not watching all that)
For the debate itself considering this guy has hundreds of episodes I'm sure there's something he can pull off from his fancy briefcase that could be enough to stop Nanno completely, but then again who knows, Moguro technically hasn't killed anyone (not directly atleast as far as I know) so he's actually at a pretty similar case to Nanno, and that alone honestly would keep me engaged in this matchup like "who could indirectly eliminate the other first?"
The banter potential for this would definitely be a fun one, I just imagine them sharing a similar target and would definitely fight over who should be punishing them, also they're both pro manipulators and would likely know everything there is to know from each other so they would instantly see through each other's disguise. I believe this matchup is pretty debatable since they should also be able to resist each others powers, however, I am leaning more towards Nanno because from what I've seen Moguro has no way to counter her existence erasure or a way to prevent her regeneration.
If Nanno were to face against someone similar to her, Moguro is certainly a good option just for the pure chaotic nature of this fight.


VS Haruhi Suzumiya (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya)
"Normal humans don't interest me. If anyone here is an alien, a time traveler, slider, or an esper, then come find me! That is all."

Now THIS is the matchup that I believe works perfectly for both Nanno's character and Haruhi's story, also i just realized all of the opponents for Nanno I've mentioned is all from an anime which is kinda funny. Anyways incase you don't know, Haruhi appears as this regular and typical naive high school student which she technically is, however, she unknowingly weilds powerful God like abilities that are capable of destroying the entire world, and these powers can occur whenever Haruhi wishes for something to happen (ultimately manifesting her desires to happen) or gets lead by her emotions (ei: whenever she gets upset or confused could potentially lead the destruction of the entire galaxy).
The connections and themes may be rather small but easily makes up for it just for the shear story and debate of this matchup overall, I can just imagine Haruhi being another target to Nanno considering her rude and egocentric personality, 
and would join her SOS Brigade in order to get closer to her.
I actually already made a post for the banter potential and debatability of this matchup which I will link here, and I suggest you read that because I don't wanna just repeat what I've said here, but to summarize it, Nanno's objective is to torment Haruhi whilst being completelty vigilant and keeping her distance in order to prevent Haruhi from indirectly eliminating her completely.
Similarly to Enma Ai, Haruhi's brigade members should definitely be included for support since Haruhi alone wouldn't probably work and needs to heavily rely on them.
I really love this matchup, not only is it debatable af but also works perfectly for Nanno’s character given she's not typically a fighter and serves as a fun challenge. This is also probably the only matchup that works perfectly for Haruhi aswell given she's unaware of her powers but despite that somehow has an actual shot of winning an indirect fight completely unaware. 
If it's a full on death battle like matchup Enma Ai, Moguro or even Tomie are great options, but if it's a type of matchup that works best as a crossover episode then Haruhi Suzumiya is the best option, think of this like Light VS Walter White, wherein both characters works best in a non standard one on one fight.

I wanted to make this blog to show more about Nanno’s capabilites and expand upon her feats considering she did get a bunch of new buffs from the new Girl from Nowhere spinoff shows, Nanno is also a fairly underrated character who wasn't really properly researched given from what I've seen in the VS Wiki and also the way some people from the powerscaling community (especially on Tik Tok and YT Shorts) who treats her as this powerful God character who solos all. Which yes Nanno is rather powerful but really she's not the strongest character in media by the slightest lol.
